Motif is a storefront of pre-designed home-screen theme packs — icons,
wallpapers, lock-screen art and widgets. It is built to keep everything on
your device, with the one optional exception described below.
Data we collect
Motif collects no personal data, no account data and no
usage or analytics data. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising and no
tracking of any kind.
One thing does leave your device, and only if you choose to use it:
Your location, for the weather widget. If you add the weather widget and grant the location permission, the app hands your device's coordinate to a weather provider to fetch the current conditions for your area. The request carries no name, no account and no device identifier — just the coordinate. We operate no server of our own and never receive, store or log your location. Only the last weather reading is cached, on your device.
It is optional. Decline the location permission, or simply do not add the weather widget, and nothing is sent anywhere. The widget then shows an “Enable location” prompt, and every other part of the app works exactly the same.
Who the provider is depends on the platform. On iOS it is Apple WeatherKit, part of the operating system: the coordinate is used to service the request in real time, is not retained, and is never accessible to us — which is why the app's App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected”. On Android the provider is WeatherAPI.com, a third party that receives the coordinate; that is declared as collection and sharing in the app's Google Play Data safety form. Each provider's handling of the request is governed by its own privacy policy.
Everything else stays on the device: all theme packs and the catalog are bundled inside the app, and files you unlock are stored only in the app's own on-device storage and shared with your chosen wallpaper picker, launcher or widget app on your device.
Purchases
A pack is unlocked by a one-time in-app purchase. On iOS the purchase is
processed by Apple and verified on your device by the App
Store (StoreKit); on Android it is processed by Google Play
Billing and verified on your device by Google Play. Motif never sees
or stores your payment details and sends no purchase data to any server we
operate. Apple's and Google's handling of payment data is governed by their
own privacy policies.
Data sharing
The only data that reaches anyone else is the coordinate handed to the weather
provider described above, and only while you use the weather widget. It is used
solely to answer that request. We share nothing else, and we sell nothing to
anyone.
Data deletion
There is nothing for us to delete: we operate no server and keep no copy of your
location or any other data about you. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device
files it created, including the cached weather reading.
Children
Motif is a general-audience customization tool and is not directed to children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new
“Last updated” date.
